Printing techniques & fabric
How long does DTG printing last?
When washed inside-out at 30°C with similar colours and tumble-dried low, a DTG print on a premium ring-spun cotton blank lasts 60+ washes without cracking or fading. The ink bonds at fibre level, so the print lasts as long as the garment. Read our full care guide.
What is the difference between DTG and DTF printing?
DTG (direct-to-garment) sprays water-based ink directly into cotton fibres — soft hand-feel, breathable, photo-realistic, 100% cotton only. DTF (direct-to-film) prints ink onto a transfer film that is heat-pressed onto the garment — bright opaque colours, works on polyester, dark fabrics, workwear and totes.
Is DTG better than screen printing?
For 1–50 pieces, photographic or multi-colour designs, DTG wins on cost, speed and flexibility — no minimums, no screen-setup fee. Screen printing only becomes cheaper at 100+ pieces with a simple 1–3 colour design.
Can you print on polyester, polyblend or workwear?
Yes — we use DTF transfers for polyester, poly-cotton blends, high-vis, jerseys, workwear and technical fabrics. DTG is reserved for 100% cotton garments.
What fabric weights do you stock?
Lightweight 150–180 GSM tees, midweight 200 GSM daily tees, heavy 240 GSM oversized tees, 280 GSM long-sleeves, 400 GSM hoodies, and 300 GSM organic heavyweight. See the full size & fabric guide.
Are your inks eco-friendly and OEKO-TEX certified?
Yes. We use GOTS-approved, water-based inks with no PVC, phthalates or heavy metals. OEKO-TEX Standard 100 certified. Recycled mailers, zero-waste nesting, and one planted tree per 10 orders via One Tree Planted.
Design files & artwork
How do I design a t-shirt for printing?
Open the free Shirtaki Design Studio in any browser, upload your artwork, position it on the true-to-size mockup of the exact garment you want, pick colour and size, and order. No software install. No account required.
What file format is best for t-shirt printing?
Vector SVG is ideal (scales perfectly). For raster files, 300 DPI PNG with a transparent background at final print size. Avoid JPG (no transparency) and low-res screenshots below 150 DPI — the designer will warn you before checkout.
What file formats can I upload?
PNG, JPG, SVG, PDF and WebP up to 50 MB.
Can I use copyrighted images, logos or celebrity faces?
Only if you own the rights or have a written licence. We do not print third-party trademarks, logos, or protected characters without authorisation. Flagged uploads are emailed to you before production starts.
Do you offer Pantone colour matching?
For orders of 50+ pieces we match to a Pantone Solid Coated reference with a free physical sample. DTG and DTF have slight colour shifts on dark fabrics — our team advises during proofing.
Can I see a mockup before ordering?
Yes — the designer renders your artwork on the exact garment, including true print placement, scale and colour. Zoom in, rotate the garment, and switch colours live.
